Stratus are a Sydney-based three piece blending rock, alternative and melodic J-rock influences into a loud, energetic sound built for live shows. Formed by three close mates with a shared love for massive guitar tones, emotional hooks, and chaotic stage energy, the band combines raw intensity with catchy songwriting and a nostalgic early 2000s edge.

Meet the trio
Will Murray
Bass/Vocals
Will began playing bass at 12 and then later picking up guitar at 16, gradually shaping his style through songwriting and live performance. A lifelong singer, he’s stepped confidently into the role of a vocalist, bringing strong stage presence and energy to Stratus. Influenced heavily by jazz and funk, his playing has evolved into a more rock driven style through years of gigging around Sydney. Off stage, Will builds many of the instruments he performs with and hopes to one day become a professional luthier, though he still refuses to support Callum’s obsession with scalloped frets.
Reuben Aung Thein
Drums/Vocals
Blending powerful drumming with commanding vocals, Reuben brings a unique energy that sits at the centre of the band’s live sound. Coming from a performace-rich background, he developed a strong sense of entertainment and stage presence early on, shaping a style that is both theatrical and explosive. Inspired by the lyrica-openess of musical theatre and the humour, intensity, and larger than life attitude of Tenacious D, he combines hard hitting rhythms with confident vocals, creating performances that are loud and unpredictable.
Callum Harrington
Guitar
Coming from a blues and rock background, Callum has always loved melodic guitar lines mixed with upbeat rhythms that hit hard. Influenced by legends like Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen, his playing blends expressive lead work with explosive energy and groove driven rhythm. In Stratus, he brings a dynamic sound that balances feel and technical flair, shaping riffs and solos that are both catchy and powerful. Known for his obsession with scalloped frets, Callum is always chasing new ways to push his playing further.
